INTERNATIONAL WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY – 19TH AUGUST 2023
World Humanitarian Day, celebrates all our humanitarian players, such as Zambia Red Cross Society Volunteers and staff, who are the frontliners in times of disasters, crisis, calamities and have worked and continue to work in the promotion of the humanitarian cause to the extent that some lost their lives in the course of duty. World Humanitarian Day reminds us of the role of humanitarian action towards those affected and the need to provid security and safety to Volunteers and other providers of aid during crises and disasters.
This day is also meant to increasing public awareness about humanitarian assistance activities worldwide and the importance of International Cooperation.
This year’s global theme which is “The Human Race, it takes a village” emphasizes and builds on the fundamental humanitarian action. This theme focuses on bringing people together from all walks of life and helping them appreciate the sacrifice that is there, as pertains to humanitarian action.
On this year’s World Humanitarian Day, we celebrate humanitarians everywhere. We salute their dedication and courage and pay tribute to those who lost their lives in pursuit of this noble cause. They represent the best of humanity. To all our Volunteers we say thank you for your humanitarian sacrifice.
