Saving Lives | Changing Minds
The Zambia Red Cross Society has a RFL Coordinator who is also the Disaster Management Manager and assisted by the National Tracing Officer who are both based at the headquarters in Lusaka. The National Society has embarked on building capacity of its RFL Unit and expansion of the tracing network to key geographical locations in the country. Currently, the main provinces that ZRCS is offering RFL activities are North Western (Meheba Refugee Settlement) and in Luapula Province (Mantapala Refugee Settlement) and Lusaka (at Makeni Transit Centre). ZRCS has continued to build capacity in conducting RFL services and is able to provide various services
In March 2022, the FLA database deployment was started and will be finalized before the end of 2022 for the ZRCS to better manage its RFL caseload.
Access to beneficiaries
RFL activities are mainly limited to Lusaka (including Makeni Transit Centre), and in the refugee settlements located in Luapula (Mantapala Refugee Settlement), and North Western provinces (Meheba Refugee Settlement). However, some ad hoc cases can be accepted for other parts of the country outside the abovementioned locations. For such cases, there is needed to first confirm with the National Society if your case could be taken.
