ZRCS SIGNS 5-YEAR MOU WITH WATERAID TO BOOST WATER AND SANITATION EFFORTS

The Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) has signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WaterAid to enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene services in communities. This strategic partnership focuses on providing clean water, improving sanitation, promoting hygiene practices, strengthening local service delivery, and influencing policy to drive sustainable development.

“This is the right time to make strategic decisions,” said ZRCS Secretary General Cosmas Sakala. “We must act now, while there is no crisis, to be better prepared when emergencies like cholera arise.”

Yankho Mataya, WaterAid Country Director, added, “This partnership is a significant step toward building resilient, healthier communities with universal access to clean water and sanitation.”

This collaboration is a game-changer for Zambia’s most vulnerable communities. By joining forces, ZRCS and WaterAid will address critical needs, reduce the burden of waterborne diseases, and empower local governments to deliver life-saving services. Our shared commitment is to ensure that every person has access to safe water and improved sanitation, paving the way for a healthier, more dignified future.

Aligned with ZRCS’s strategic plan, this MoU reinforces our mission to deliver impactful humanitarian aid and improve the well-being of communities across the nation.
