National Disaster Risk Management Division National Coordinator Mr. Norman Chipakupaku described ZRCS as a dependable auxiliary to Government, adding that the Training Conference/ Centre will further strengthen collaboration in disaster preparedness, emergency response and the training of responders.
The modern facility features auditoriums with a combined seating capacity of more than 150 people, equipped with projectors, sound systems, internet connectivity and parking. It will serve as a hub for First Aid training while also providing conference and meeting facilities for organizations and the public.
United Nations Resident Coordinator Ms. Beatrice Mutali, Netherlands Red Cross Country Representative Ms. Jo-Lind Roberts and The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Head of Delegation for the Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi Cluster Mr. Kopano Masilo were among dignitaries in attendance.
Reaffirming the Society's humanitarian mandate, ZRCS National President Mr. Martin Ng'onga stated, "This centre is more than infrastructure. It is an investment in people, preparedness and our commitment to serve humanity with impartiality, integrity, compassion and excellence."
