Zambia Red Cross Society through its health projects focuses on hygiene promotion to enable people to take action to prevent or mitigate water, sanitation, and hygiene related diseases through ensuring that optimal use is made of the water, sanitation, and hygiene enabling facilities that are provided. The key activities conducted under this pillar includes
Zambia Red Cross through its health projects focuses on provision of health services through provision of facilities such as waiting shelters for pregnant women. Improving capacities of Health Worker in service provision such as training on Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM), Maternal Young Child and Infant Nutrition (MYCIN) Under this pillar, the national Society also conducts assessments of health facilities in relation to the service provision, and provides equitable access to basic infrastructure such as construction or rehabilitation of Mother’s waiting shelter in order to improve maternal neonatal and child health outcomes, provision of safe water through drilling and rehabilitation of water systems, provision of medical equipment to key areas under the Ministry of Health. The National Society also supports health care workers, Red Cross volunteers/staff within the health response teams to operate with proper protection, care and support e.g. Infection Prevention and Control, Personal Protective Equipment’s; but also, Psycho-social Support and more prevention at a community level, better access to care and higher healthcare-seeking behavior.
